Since completing his studies in orchestral conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Olof Boman has established himself as one of Sweden's most interesting young conductors.

Olof has always had a particular interest in 18th century music and has also devoted special study to the harpsichord and performance especially for music of the Baroque and the Classical period. This has led to intense activity with a number of Baroque orchestras and in September 2006 he took over from René Jacobs as conductor of the Akademie für Alte Musik, Berlin at short notice with notable success at the Bach Festival in Köthen.

Olof has been the guest conductor of many Swedish orchestras, such as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, as well as of a whole range of major European choirs, such as the Swedish Radio Choir, the NDR Choir in Hamburg and the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin. His great knowledge of and interest in vocal music has also made him a sought-after opera conductor and he has been the musical director of several operas including a number of productions at Vadstena Academy with whom he closely cooperates.

The 2007-2008 season includes not only a large number of concerts but also several opera productions such as Saul by George Frideric Handel at Vadstena Academy, the premiere performance of Frank Schwemmer's opera Medea with the Vocalconsort Berlin, Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell at the Rococo theatre Confidencen in Stockholm, and L'Opera seria by Florian Leopold Gassman at the Fäviken Opera Festival in the north of Sweden and at Drottningholm Court Theater, Stockholm.

Olof has also recently worked on two CDs of music by the Swedish-Finnish composer Bernhard Crusell together with the Östgöta Wind Orchestra.
