Katerina Kanavaki
Katerina Kanavaki Katerina Kanavaki was born in Athens. She began piano lessons at an early age and later continued her studies in piano and theory at the Music College Conservatory in Thessaloniki under K. Stamatelou and L. Totsiou until 1999 graduating with her Piano Diploma. Immediately after this she gained a place to study at the Rostock Academy of Music and Theater in Germany in the class of Prof. Ilya Scheps. Then, from 2001, she continued her studies at the Bremen Arts Academy under Prof. Nikolaus Lahusen, graduating in 2005 with a master's degree in soloist performance for the piano. Since then, Katerina has taken active part in many master classes around Europe under such distinguished professors as Karl-Heinz Kaemmerling - Vassilia Efstathiadou, Lev Natocheny, Alfons Kontarsky, Roberto Szidon, Siegfried Mauser, Ruth Gerald and others. She has also studied privately under D. Evnouchidou (Thessaloniki) and V. Kalojanova (Berlin). Over the past few years she has been very influenced by V. Efstathiadou (Athens) in terms of the pedagogical aspects of music. Since 2006 Katerina has taught both privately and at the 'Pithagorio' conservatory in Anoixi, Attica, in addition to her involvement in the performance of music. Katerina mainly plays chamber music and has collaborated with various instrumentalists and singers. She has also recorded for German radio and has appeared at international festivals such as 'Max Reger Tage' (Weiden - Germany), 'Europaeische Woche' (Bremen) and Casa dei Mezzo (Crete) among others. Upcoming performances for 2010 include the International Piano Festival of Rhodes in September as well as chamber music concerts in Athens. |
