P.A.C.T. ConcertsFrom time to time the Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival presents extra concerts in other countries for the benefit of P.A.C.T. [Pokhara Academy Children's Trust]. What is P.A.C.T.?P.A.C.T. is a charity registered in the United Kingdom [registration number 1121568] and was set up to help support the Sahara Club Orphanage in Pokhara, Nepal. The patron of P.A.C.T. is Doreen Wells, Marchioness of Londonderry. The Sahara Club OrphanageNepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, and every year many children are cast out onto the streets because their families cannot afford to feed them. The aim of the Sahara Club Orphanage is to provide a home for some of these children, and to develop opportunities for them via football and other social programmes. At present the orphanage is home to 25 children aged 9-14. The building belongs to the local council but P.A.C.T. has now bought extra land with the money it raised in 2006 and is now hoping to finance a purpose-built orphanage with room for a further 5-10 children. P.A.C.T. also hopes to provide grants and the possibility of further education for children when they leave the orphanage at 18. The Sahara Club Orphanage is based in the town of Pokhara and is run by the Sahara Club - a football club which finances many charitable projects.
