Isa Katharina Gericke
The soprano Isa Katharina Gericke is well known for her versatility in concerts, chamber music and opera, and her repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary.
With a particular fondness for Lieder and songs, she has made her mark in concert performances with singers Eva Sars Nansen, Jenny Lind, and Kirsten Flagstad. During 2013 she showed her new side in the cabaret "Frauen sind keine Engel" with music from nineteen thirties and forties Berlin.
Isa is also a sought-after presenter and communicator, combining words and music for the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra Christmas concerts in December 2013.
Isa is a graduate of the Academy of Music and the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and she has since then won numerous awards, among them the first Norwegian Society Wessel Award for her work in promoting Norwegian vocal music.
Her opera debut took place in 2003 as Gretel in Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" at the Norwegian Opera. She has since interpreted roles such as Eurydice in Monteverdi's "Orfeo", Pamina and Lady One in Mozart's "Magic Flute", Cyane in the opera "Proserpina" by Joseph Martin Krauss, and Euridice in Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice" at opera houses and festivals in Norway and Germany.
In the summer of 2010 and in 2011 Isa sang and played the role of Gudrun in a play about St Olav on Stiklestad, organised by Bentein Baardson, and in the autumn of 2013 Isa also interpreted her first Wagner role "Wellgunde" in the Bremer Philharmonic concert version of "Das Rheingold".
The upcoming season debuts her as Michaela in "Carmen" by George Bizet for Trondheim Symphony Musical.
Isa's soloist commitments include cooperation with, among others, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, Bremen Philharmonic, King Disposal Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kammerakademie Potsdam, the Czech Philharmonic, and conductors such as Sir Andrew Davies, Manfred Honneck, Philippe Herreweghe, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Antonello Manacorda and Ole Kristian Ruud.
Isa is a frequent guest at many chamber music festivals in Norway and abroad.
In the autumn of 2008 she made her debut in London with a critically acclaimed recital at the Wigmore Hall and she has also made numerous recordings for the record label Simax Grappa.
Since 2001, Isa has been artistic director of the annual Glogerfestspillene in Kongsberg.
